The Pre-Seasoned Standing Rib Roast at Costco is an oven-ready bone-in roast - all set to take it home and cook for your special occasion! Plan on purchasing about 1 pound per person, so a 10 lb roast should feed about 10 people. Cooking time will vary depending on the roast size and how rare or well done you prefer it....but plan on a about 4+ hours for a 10lb roast.

Instructions

    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 500 DEGREES.
    2. REMOVE PLASTIC WRAP FROM THE ALUMINUM CONTAINER & DISCARD THE FOAM TRAY.
    3. PLACE IN OVEN ON CENTER RACK.
    4. COOK FOR 25 MINUTES AT 500 DEGREES
    5. TURN THE OVEN DOWN TO 200 DEGREES AND CONTINUE TO COOK FOR 20-30 MINUTES PER POUND OR UNTIL A THERMOMETER INSERTED INTO THE CENTER OF THE ROAST READS:
    6. * 125-135 DEGREES FOR RARE
      * 135-145 DEGREES FOR MEDIUM RARE
      * 145-155 DEGREES FOR MEDIUM
      * 155-165 DEGREES FOR MED WELL
      * 165 DEGREES AND ABOVE FOR WELL DONE
    7. REMOVE RIB FROM THE OVEN AND LET REST FOR 15 MIN.
    8. CUT THE TWINE HOLDING THE BONE TO THE ROAST, CARVE & SERVE

Please double check the product label on the actual rib roast at your local Costco – these are locally prepared in the deli department and ingredients or cooking instructions may vary slightly from Costco to Costco location.

Although it is not officially labeled as Gluten Free or Keto – from my reading of the label I don’t see any gluten in the ingredient list and think this would be Keto friendly as well.

    1. Apologies I was offline for a few days for the holidays – hopefully you found your answer but I did want to answer in case anyone else has the same question in the future. No, you don’t need to place it on a rack – you can cook it right in the container it comes in (I personally move it to a ceramic dish, but definitely do not need to do that) and it doesn’t need to come to room temperature before roasting. If you’re trying to reduce oven time (juggling multiple items) you could let it come to room temperature and that would probably reduce cook time slightly (I’ve never done it so I can’t say by how much, but logically it should reduce it a small amount – just use a meat thermometer to test it).

    1. I expect it will be in stores soon – any day now. I don’t have confirmation on that officially, but it’s a very popular item and I’ll be shocked if its not back this year. I will update this post with updated pricing and availability as soon as I see it in-store!
