Costco Members can buy these 8 Electric Vehicles (or EVs) on the Costco Auto Program and take advantage of the Federal Tax Rebate! Costco’s car buying program is a service for members that saves money by offering fair auto pricing on both new and used vehicles without haggling or negotiation. We’re in the process of exploring a new car purchase, and thought we’d pass along our research – we’ve got the list of the 8 Costco Auto Evs which qualify for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit [at the time of posting, that’s a fluid list so double check please].

Note: Beginning January 1, 2024, the IRS will allow buyers to reduce the clean vehicle’s upfront purchase price by the amount of their Clean Vehicle Credit by choosing to transfer their tax credit to the dealer.

$7500 Federal Rebate

Many people are looking for more fuel efficient vehicles to not only save money on gas, but the rebate can really stack on savings! Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, updating the Federal tax credit on clean energy vehicles and starting in 2023 a lot more vehicles became eligible for the tax credit (and others will no longer be eligible so check the eligible EV tax rebate list!).

And, starting in 2024, the Federal Rebate will be able to be transferred to the dealer to reduce the vehicle price – and you won’t have to wait until the end of the year to file your taxes to get that money saving benefit!

Quick Note on Electric Vehicle Availability

Before we dive into the list, the various cars included in the Costco Auto Program can vary a little over time, as well as from region to region…and besides Costco’s negotiated auto partner dealerships, when it comes to EVs…some of the brand new electric vehicles coming to market are being launched only in specific states, or regions and are wait list only or limited in configurations…the program won’t skip you to the front of the line or alleviate those challenges, but it will help you place your order with a pre-negotiated rate. Electric Cars are an exciting new and growing space, it’s changing constantly! Plus you can get good deals on EV Chargers at Costco too!

ProTip: check your zip code on the Costco Auto website and if you live near a state border or are willing to drive to pick up your new EV, you may be able to purchase the car in another State/region and bring it back – so we suggest you get a little creative and check some nearby area zip codes over the state line too! We think this list should help you narrow down what you might be looking for…and give you a heads up on what you won’t find in terms of Costco EVs.
