Kirkland Signature Chipotle Chicken Bowl with Cilantro Lime Rice
I just tried the new Kirkland Signature Chipotle Chicken Bowl with Cilantro Lime Rice. Costco Deli dropped the new heat and serve tex-mex (American mex? call it what you like!) meal kit recently and comes with grilled seasoned chicken, shredded cheese and cilantro lime rice (it’s not tossed but is packaged together) and small individually packaged salsa and a Kirkland guacamole on the side. Plus lime wedges. I put the nutrition panel below for calories and other nutritional info plus my review and a summary of reviews from social media.

My Review
In my opinion, the Chipotle Chicken Bowl with Cilantro Lime Rice is just okay for me. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it in particular, I also don’t love anything in particular…well other than it all being made and I don’t have to make it – I do appreciate that and sometimes that’s that has a lot of value in and of itself, let’s be real.
When I do have a little more time to make dinner, I’d say that for me there is a tremendous amount of rice in this which is just a filler really. I don’t find this a good value item nor do I particularly love rice. I’d prefer beans, or shredded cabbage (with nutritional value/fiber), or tortillas (just a preference over rice) – ultimately I don’t eat a lot of rice based bowls (not this much rice at least).
Ultimately, this Costco deli meal kit not my first choice, and I’d prefer to grab a rotisserie chicken and season my own chicken, tortillas, can of beans, guac and make my own rice if I want it (I usually make the microwave sticky rice bowls for my picky 11 yo IYKYK). Or we would prefer the Costco chicken street tacos over the chipotle chicken rice bowl for a Costco deli meal kit in this theme.

Summary of Reviews from Social Media
Overwhelmingly the reviews from people on social media tend to agree with me on the Chipotle Chicken bowl – general sentiments of ambivalence, perception of poor value (too much of the cilantro lime rice), and a preference to make their own. There are absolutely a handful who love it too. There were almost none who actually hated any part about it – while some thought it was somewhat bland, none seem to think any particular flavors were really bad or awful in and of themselves.
Nadia from CostcoShares on Instagram also wasn’t a fan, but noted that she had a number of readers who really liked it – so it really seems to be a mixed bag on this one!
TL/DR Review: I don’t discourage anyone from getting it, honestly there’s nothing inherently really wrong with it…there just isn’t anything spectacular about it. If you love rice based bowls and it looks good to you and you’re looking for something with zero prep – try it. You might not buy it again, but it’s not likely to be something you throw out either. If you’re on the fence, then pass on it.
Calories and Nutritional Info – Kirkland Signature Chipotle Chicken Bowl with Cilantro Lime Rice
Overall the Chipotle chicken bowl from Costco isn’t terrible besides the sodium on a per servings basis, but the servings may be pretty small for some adults in my opinion. Each package is meant to be six servings, with 340 calories and 12 grams of fat and 25 grams of protein per serving. If you’re watching your sodium this is not going to be a good option for you.
