Giant Costco Pumpkin Pie Back in 2025 and still $5.99
Updated for September 2025: The legendary Costco Pumpkin Pie is back again for Fall 2025. We’re big fans of this Costco pie and its just as big as last year (and every other year before that) aaaaaand it’s inflation proof – still costs $5.99! The pumpkin pie is a Costco fan favorite item to serve throughout Thanksgiving, friendsgiving, Christmas and all the other holidays and family gatherings that occur this time of year. We serve it at our house! It’s huge, it’s good, and this super-sized pumpkin pie is definitely a crowd pleaser!
How Big Is It Really?
Big. A standard 9 in pumpkin pie weighs about 22 oz…and the giant pumpkin pie at Costco weighs in at about 58 oz. That’s over three and a half pounds, and more than double the size of an average store bought pumpkin pie.
What I Like About It
On the whole, I think the Costco pumpkin pie is really quite delicious, in fact it’s so good that I don’t justify making one for our Thanksgiving meal because I really don’t think my own comes out that much better (if better at all).
I’m sure there are some special Family Recipes or special tweaks to the classic pumpkin pie recipe that it wouldn’t compete with…but if you’re looking to serve multiple desserts or host a large crowd, at some point you’ve got to outsource and find some good, solid store-bought items that you can serve and I think that the Costco bakery pumpkin pie stands solidly as one of those reliably good items.
Costco Pumpkin Pie vs. Sam’s Club Pumpkin Pie
I will note, that there’s a very comparable Sam’s Club 58oz Pumpkin Pie for $5.98 – theymatched Costco’s price in 2025, and it’s also still the same price for 2025! Actually a penny less, lol. Boom, Sam’s helping members beat inflation too!
In prior years, Sam’s pumpkin pie cost a buck more. Since 2024…no more!
How Many Servings are in the Costco Pumpkin Pie?
That’s a great question, and while it heavily depends on how large of pieces you cut…on average you should expect to get about 12-16 slices of pie out of a Costco pumpkin pie.
In many families, like ours, we serve multiple family favorite desserts at our Thanksgiving dinner such as apple pie and lemon meringue pie, so we tend to cut them a bit smaller into a skinny slice so we can eat a mix of a bunch of different desserts. In that case, you would be looking to get more like 16-20 small slices from a Costco pumpkin pie. If you’re just serving pumpkin pie, probably 12-16.
Is the Costco Pumpkin Pie Good
Yes, the Costco pumpkin pie is a fan favorite item, and overwhelmingly Costco members like this housemade bakery pie.
What We Don’t Like About It
We don’t love the ingredients list (see below) – primarily the shortening which contains TBHQ. If this was an everyday household food item, we would not buy it because of that. For a one-off meal, a special treat…we do overlook this. We’d prefer a crust made with butter…but then it wouldn’t cost $5.99 so….I think that’s a choice each consumer needs to make.

There’s no inflation on the Costco pumpkin pie!
Costco pumpkin pies originally did not have nutmeg in them. The last time I bought one there was nutmeg listed on the label. I can’t stand nutmeg and want to know if the pies currently have nutmeg in them.
The label just says “spices” which I would assume is a pumpkin pie spice blend – I am not sure if it has nutmeg but would assume so. It doesn’t bother me so I’m not sure I’d notice if it was in it or not to be honest – if you go online at Costco.com and scroll down to the bottom and go to Customer Service – they have an online chat feature and they may be able to tell you the exact blend in the pie this year. Apologies I don’t have that answer for you but hope you find it (and hope it doesn’t have it!).
How long can the pumpkin pie be refrigerated??
I would try to purchase it within 48 hours of serving the meal. And I’d say 3 days in the fridge after for leftovers – freeze whatever you don’t eat and defrost and eat later. That’s not an official Costco answer – just my personal opinion 🙂 You can freeze and defrost this one though!
Are there other pies around this prices as well?
Pumpkin pie is definitely set especially low – I’d guess it’s a loss leader (probably the store takes a loss on these, but they bring people in, and are beloved by customers, and so they continue to make them anyway – kind of like the rotisserie chickens). The other pies are more expensive. if you search “pie” in the search bar you’ll see all the pies I have covered and look up the most recent pricing. While some are from last year, I won’t expect significant price changes on bakery items – those should stay the same for the most part if any are still showing 2023 prices. I’m updating as I see them coming out for Thanksgiving 2024.

Great pie however I would rather pay more for a pie that doesn’t contains TBHQ. Please stop using this Costco!!! I make my own pies for this reason.

I would suggest you ask at the bakery department or in the front of the store if they have the timing on thost – they’ve already come back in the US. There is also a review site like mine that is based in Canada and they may have insight for you on that it’s at www.cocowest.ca – I hope they are out on time for your fundraiser!
