Theme park life is expensive…grabbing a Universal Studios Discount Season Pass at Costco can save you once again this year and for Fall 2024 the Universal discount pass offering from Costco is back and it’s the same price as last year – take that inflation! I love Universal Studios and I love saving money, yay! Big news this year…it’s now even easier to get one!

Since Super Nintendo World opened, Universal Studios Hollywood has even more to offer kids and families (I am personally OBSESSED with Harry Potter World, could just live in there…literally can they build condos in there, I’ll buy one!) – while there a fair number of blackout dates, the season passes also are valid for over 180 days in the year so lots of days to enjoy to the park. Key Details

Some key details I want to call out on Costco’s discount season passes to Universal Studios:

  • There are a lot of blackout dates, these work best for locals…check the calendar BEFORE you buy the passes
  • Universal Studios Passes at Costco are non-refundable — while almost everything at Costco is returnable, a few things are not, and these are one of them
  • Universal offers a California Neighbor Pass which may be worth a peek for comparison – I think Costco’s deal is better, however it’s worth mentioning/disclosing that does exist!
  • You need to register the pass in advance, so if you’re planning to use the first day on a specific date, don’t wait till the last minute juuuuust in case the park is sold out!
  • The pass is for general admission – it doesn’t cover special events like Halloween Horror Nights. You can purchase those on top of the pass just like you would on top of a general admission ticket though!
  • Universal City Walk is Free! You don’t need a pass for it! I def suggest trying the iFly on City Walk – my 11-year did it recently and LOVED it!!

Where to Buy Discount Universal Studios Costco Season Passes

I spotted these Universal Studios Discount Season Passes in my local Los Angeles Costco warehouse in Marina del Rey. I’m local to Universal Studios Hollywood. They’re on the gift cards racks with the other discount gift cards.

But I have big news…this year, Costco is now offering their Universal Studios Hollywood season pass for sale online! This is HUGE! Previously it’s only been for sale locally which has meant those who were coming for a vacation couldn’t use this deal even if they’re vacation days would align with the valid dates, as it was too tricky to ensure they could land on the ground and find one to buy in a warehouse. These do tend to work out better for locals, but nonetheless, the option to order this is certainly appreciated!

Note: The cardboard cutout on the gift card rack is not the actual ticket. For theft prevention, purchasing Universal Studios Season passes at Costco is a 2-step process. Take the cardboard cutout to the register, and check out as usual. After you pay at the checkout, you will take your receipt to the item pick up at the front of the store – they will check your receipt and give you the physical tickets/passes. Most people know this…but if you’ve never purchased them before it’s worth noting 🙂
