Costco Vonbee Honey Citron & Ginger Tea Review
It’s the kind of thing that you look at the gigantic jar and think sweet, I can eat alllllll of this. Myself. Now where can I hide it so my kids and husband don’t find it? Now, should I hoard the whole jar? OK, that’s another conversation. But if you’re wondering if the Costco Vonbee Honey, Citron & Ginger Tea Base tastes good? YES! It’s too good! I’ll eat it on a spoon, I’ll eat it on the moon, I’d even eat it with a baboon…on a train, in the rain… Haha, you hear me, right?
I actually wouldn’t mind if it was a smidge less sweet, but make no mistakes, I’m NOT complaining, it’s delish! I would say its most similar to a marmalade, if I were to try to compare it to something. Great citrust flavor, the ginger is such a great complement. Costco fans rave about it’s medicinal powers for colds and flu – I am not sure about that – but it does make a delicious cup of tea, which your kids will probably want to drink when they don’t feel well. So there’s that!
What I Don’t Like…Costco Vonbee Honey Citron & Ginger Tea Review
Vonbee has recently changed their ingredient list – it no longer has high fructose corn syrup! We used to have beef with that, but we’re happy to see it’s been updated. Make no mistake this isn’t “health food” it’s still a lot of sugar just now healthier sugar lol, but we definitely prefer the new ingredient panel! Thank you Vonbee!

How we Prepare Vonbee Honey, Citron & Ginger Tea base from Costco
- spread on sourdough bread or crusty toast (most common)
- add to tea in lieu of honey
- use as an accompaniment on a cheese plate (goes great with soft cheese like brie!)
- put inside brie en brioche
- use like jam on anything from croissants to scones to muffins
Benefits of Ginger
Warm soothing tea made with ginger feels soothing, and helps to release congestion and discomfort. This doesn’t have a high pure ginger count, but it does have real ginger preserves in it. My kids won’t eat anything with strong ginger – and this makes a yummy tea – hot liquids are good when they’re sick – I’ll take it!

It’s the time of year where everyone is coming down with something. If you’re feeling a little under the weather, hot tea might just be what your doctor ordered. Hot tea has been used for years to fight illnesses and help people feel better. It has antiviral properties, which can help shorten the duration of an illness, as well as reduce symptoms such as fever and congestion.

FAQs About Vonbee Honey Citron Ginger Tea:
Where can I buy Vonbee Honey Citron Ginger Tea besides Costco?
Vonbee Honey Citron Ginger Tea Base is also sold for a steep premium by resellers on Amazon.
How many calories are in Costco Vonbee Honey Citrus & Ginger Tea?
There are 50 Calories per 20 gram serving (about 2-3 teaspoons).
My sister found it yesterday at the Costco Business Center on Othello St in San Diego California. It was $9.99
Be aware that the Vonbee honey ginger citron on AMAZON does have high fructose corn syrup. Hence, the vendors do not show the ingredients portion of their labels.
Thank you for pointing out that Costco’s version does not include high fructose corn syrup.
Thank you for your reviews. Thank you for your delightful sense of humor as evidenced in your poetry. ๐
I’ve used it as hot and cold tea, and I think I’ll try it to glaze some chicken. Ooooh, with vanilla ice cream!
GLAZE CHICKEN!! Wow, I hadn’t even thought of that but it will be great – now that you said that, I’m also thinking ham glaze! Brilliant, thank you SO MUCH for sharing I love those ideas!!
Bought some yesterday at Costco NSW. 29/04/23. It cost $14.99. I think it will last forever. ;o)
Wow, that’s a big price difference!! Thank you for sharing – I’ve updated my post to reflect the variation in pricing in different regions. Thanks again for sharing!
I noticed the ingredients listed now doesn’t include the corn syrup. Wonder if they removed it?
Thank you for letting me know! I’ll have to look next time I see it and update my post! Is it now just made with sugar?
Per this review, Costco has a different chemistry insofar as Costco’s VONBEE does not have high fructose corn syrup. However, AMAZON’s same Vonbee products do have high fructose corn syrup.
The jars at Costco used to have corn syrup. It was reformulated and the new one doesn’t have it anymore. I believe the jars on Amazon are sold by resellers – they buy it at Costco and resell it on Amazon (hence the 3x markup). Have you ordered it or are you looking at an image on Amazon of the ingredients? I suspect the person with the listing doesn’t realize the ingredients have changed – the packaging is identical and a reader actually pointed it out to me awhile back. Or, it may be that it’s old and was purchased before the reformulation (definitley check the expiration date). I’m mostly guessing on this one and don’t have an official answer, but the jars I’ve seen being sold on Amazon have the Costco item number on the packaging – though it’s possible Vonbee now sells on Amazon…?
This is garbage. Just sugary syrup with lemon slices in it. I was hoping for a good lemon/ginger tea, but you can’t even taste the ginger. Worst tea ever.
This is absolute garbage. I bought it hoping it would be a good lemon/ginger tea. Was wrong. No ginger taste at all, just sugary syrup with lemon slices in it. A horrible tea.
I love love it my brother in Ca. Loves it

I live in Niagara Falls, Canada. Only once did I see the Ginger-Honey-Lemon Tea Mixture in a Costco and bought it. I love it but……………like with so many other things, it’s there at one time and than it’s gone!!! When I went back to get more, they had the Apple-Honey-Cinnamon tea, also from VonBee. I bought that one (which is not available anymore either). The Ginger is my favorite, I really wish, Costco would stock it again in Canada.

Yes, the Vonbee Honey Citron is definitely a fan favorite! We don’t have it at my Costco, but there is a Costco nearby that always has it – just mentioning in case you have multiple nearby Costco stores, it’s possible another store has it. Fingers crossed it’s back soon!
When is this tea sold in Costcos?
It’s in some stores now. We have it in Hawthorne, CA (but don’t have it at the two other nearby stores). You can ask at the front of the store to see if it’s carried in your store or near you – and ask them to carry it. Just give them the item number, and they can look it up.
