Costco Travel Packages for Families in Mexico
If you’re in search of a great deal on an all-inclusive family vacation to Mexico, look no further! Here are all the Costco Travel Packages to resorts that are great for families in Mexico, including Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. Some offer larger family rooms or suites, some have water park features like water slides and lazy rivers, others have free kids clubs and kids entertainment…take a look and see which of these family friendly resorts on Costco Travel are a good fit for your family vacation!
When we started browsing for a Costco vacation package in Mexico for our family, we found that the descriptions and images on CostcoTravel.com were somewhat limited…and while some resorts had great water parks and other features just for kids, we had to hunt it down on our own. Additionally some areas are quite large and it can be difficult to understand where the resort is in relation to attractions or the airport…so we hope this saves you a little digging!
The resorts and deals offered on the Costco Travel Package program change a bit from time to time, so we’ll try to include other travel package sources and direct links for you, as well as where to read more reviews.

Overview of Vacation Destinations in Mexico via Costco Travel
Through Costco Travel you can book travel packages to Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, Cabo San Lucas, Cozumel, and Riviera Nayarit, and Riviera Maya.
Riviera Maya
Riviera Maya will include Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Paraiso/Puerto Morelos (North of Playa Del Carmen, sort of halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen), Puerto Aventuras (just south of Playa del Carmen), Akumal (half way between Playa del Carmen and Tulum) and Tulum (where the ruins are).
Cancun
Cancun will include all of Cancun, including Isla Mujeres, and South of Cancun about halfway to Playa del Carmen.
Cozumel
There are limited options in Cozumel on Costco Travel, but you can find travel packages there. If it’s too limited check here for the best deals on resorts in Cozumel.
Los Cabos
Cabo San Lucas is a large area and families will tend to gravitate toward the large hotels and resorts that stretch along the coast rather than in downtown Cabo San Lucas which can tend to draw a younger/party crowd. The stretch of resorts along the coast of the Sea of Cortez is often dubbed “The Corridor.”
Puerto Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit
Puerto Vallarta emcompasses a large region. Popular areas for families include Punta Mita, Marina Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta, and Flamingos Beach.
Are Costco Travel Packages a Good Deal?
On the whole, every time we dug down deep in a price comparison we NEVER came out beating Costco Travel Packages. Sometimes we’ve felt it was pretty comparable to either competitors or to us putting together all of the pieces individually…but we really never found that it was it more expensive to book on Costco.
While you can generally get flight miles for flights on Costco Travel packages, sometimes resorts do not offer points for rooms booked using third party discount packages…so if you are working to earn points and build status at one hotelier I highly recommend you ask them before you book. It may shake out that the vacation cost savings at Costco still compel you to book on Costco Travel…but if the price comparison comes out pretty close then it might be worth it to book directly with the resort.
Are the Costco Travel Packages in Mexico Good Resorts?
Costco does a great job of narrowing down the options and really only including preferred resorts. As they only work with certain resort providers, this does sometimes mean the options overlook some really great resorts. In general, we do think that Costco Travel includes high quality resorts in their travel package offers.
The Scoop on Food at All Inclusive Family Resorts
The short of the long is this, you get what you pay for.
The gripes for most large all inclusive resorts for families center around the food. In our experience, some people love buffets, and some don’t, and that largely determines how much you’ll love all inclusive resort food.
Generally speaking, a limited amount of meals at a la carte restaurants are usually included in the price, but reservations are often difficult, scarce, and sometimes impossible. We highly recommend you do your research BEFORE you get there to find out when you can make reservations, how to make them, and don’t leave it until you arrive. Keep your expectations low, and hopefully you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
If you’re looking for foodie food in a resort, we suggest the Grand Velas Riviera Maya.
How I select All Inclusive Travel Packages
We are foodies, and while all inclusive food is easy…for us, it’s pretty meh no matter where we stay. We enjoy going off property to more local places at least a few times. As such, I like to choose all-inclusive resorts that are slightly under my real travel budget so that I don’t feel pressure to eat every single meal at the resort, or feel like I’m double paying for the food when we go out. I keep breakfast simple/healthy, and stick to items I know are good in an area – for example, Mexico isn’t known for fantastic beef, so I skip the steak and get fish tacos.
Resort Pass
Can’t decide where to stay or did you decide to stay at a private condo/home rental? You might still be able to daycation at these awesome resorts using Resort Pass! It’s easy to check if the resort you’re eyeing sells day passes to use their pools, water parks and/or cabana rentals! See all the Resort Pools available on Resort Pass in Mexico here, or click below to search anywhere it’s offered worldwide! You’ll find great brands like Iberostar, Grand Hyatt, Andaz, Marriott and more!
Our Favorite Costco Travel Packages at Family Friendly Resorts
Hard Rock Riviera Maya
Costco Travel Packages in Riviera Maya include the Hard Rock Riviera Maya all-inclusive resort. Read my review of the Hard Rock Riviera Maya All Inclusive here! The Hard Rock is located South of Playa Del Carmen, about halfway to Tulum. That means it’s pretty far from the airport but much closer to the Mayan Ruins and other more historical and unique aspects of the area. Hard Rock Hotel features tons of fun stuff for kids AND teens. From kiddie sized waterslides to GIANT water slides, a kids club, a teen only club, and a lazy river…this resort offers families a lot of options on-site. And it’s proximity to the Mayan Ruins and multiple cenotes makes for much easier offsite day trips. They offer family rooms (2 connecting rooms) as well as suites. The resort is split into two, half is adult only and half is the family side. Adults can freely go from one to the other, and kids are limited to the family side.
The beach here is more of a “baby beach” as there are rock formations protecting the beach to form lagoons. During the summer months it also serves to help reduce the seaweed that infiltrates Mexican beaches…and it’s great for little kids and snorkeling. But if you have your heart set on waves…you should know before you go.
It’s all inclusive, and offers a number of paid experiences like escape rooms and day trips.

Villa del Palmar Flamingos Beach Resort & Spa Riviera Nayarit
Costco Travel Packages in Puerto Vallarta include the Villa del Palmar Flamingos Beach Resort & Spa Riviera Nayarit. Flamingos Beach is located on the Northern part of Puerto Vallarta, just south of Punta Mita.
The resort itself is older, but the junior suites include a small kitchenette area with a mini fridge, countertop, and microwave…so families can do a little food and snack prep in the room. You can als upgrade to a one, two and three-bedroom suites for a pretty affordable price. There’s a market on site to pick up the basics.
The pool is large and offers an incline entry on one side, which is great for toddlers and little kids just warming up to swimming. Villa del Palmar Flamingos Beach also has a kids club and large spa. And it’s located on the beach.
The resort offers packages without food and beverages, as well as all inclusive packages.

Hilton Los Cabos
The Hilton Los Cabos is an upscale resort along “The Corridor” it has all the feels of a five star resort, but not too fancy you can still bring your kids! Read my Costco Travel Package Review of the Hilton Los Cabos Mexico here! The resort itself is less “kid oriented” than others, but this is also why it feels higher end…they do have a small kids pool with a waterslide and a kids club and kids menus in all the restaurants.
There’s also an empty fridge in each room so you can bring back leftovers or stock up on some snacks.
The Beach at the Hilton is one of the more useable beaches in Cabo – however the rip tides are strong as are the waves and we don’t recommend it for little kids. Tweens or older would be our suggestion, but you should test the water yourself and make sure you know how to spot where riptides are in the ocean (it’s counterintuitive…if you don’t know peek at a YT that explains it).
The Hilton Los Cabos is divided into two properties, and guests can freely use the whole resort. On one side is the Hilton Los Cabos Spa & Golf Resort (which is available via Costco Travel) and the other side is Hilton Grand Vacations which offers studios, one and two bedroom units with full kitchen, washer/dryer, and bonus…they were recently updated and are almost brand new. The Hilton Grand Vacations Club La Pacifica Los Cabos units have to be booked directly, but you don’t have to be a member of their timeshare program to book them. These are a great option for families!
Guests of both the Hilton Los Cabos and the La Pacifica Los Cabos can use all pools, chargeback all restaurants to their room, and use the spa, etc. One notable difference is that the La Pacifica doesn’t have room service, where the regular hotel rooms can order room service.
Costco Travel Packages to Cabo San Lucas Hilton often offer free breakfast for two, and kids eat free, which is a great added bonus for booking on CostcoTravel.

Moon Palace and Moon Palace Grand All-Inclusive (Cancun)
Costco Travel Packages to Cancun include two sister resorts, the Moon Palace, and the Moon Palace Grand, both of which are all-inclusive and offer a TON of activities for kids of all ages, even teens! The resort is located on the south side of Cancun, about 10 minutes from Cancun Airport.

The “Grand” is the higher end resort, which offers upgraded everything. Both resorts offer a number of pools, family rooms (for an upgrade) and a wide variety of food options.

Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort (Cancun)
Dreams resorts are available via Costco Travel Packages to Mexico – there are several Dreams resorts and generally they are good merger of family friendly, nice and good food. They do tend to skew on the higher end in terms of pricing, but all in, we still think Dreams is pretty Reasonable!
The Dreams Playa Mujeres in Cancun is located in Playa Mujeres which is just North of Cancun. It’s great for families because you’ll find two large water slides, a lazy river, a little kid splash pad area with two kiddie water slides, a dry playground, teen lounge and a kids club.
Upgrading to a suite at this resort gets pricey, so if you’re on a budget and your family can stay in a regular room and wants a good cross point of luxury and kid friendly, Dreams Playa Mujeres is worth a look!

Nickelodeon Resort (Riviera Maya)
Costco Travel Packages now include all inclusive vacations to the new Nickelodeon Resort in Riviera Maya. Located just north of Playa del Carmen in Playa Paraiso (halfway way between Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morales).
This mecca for kids is brand new (it opened in 2021) and its built for kids and families. Think lazy river, water slides, characters, kids clubs, kids shows, and more.
The Spongebob themed water park and Paw Patrol Adventure Bay for the smaller kids are the just start of all the water play fun at Nickelodeon. And, every room in the resort either has a swim up feature, or it’s own plunge pool. So you don’t have to walk by the swim up rooms and have your kids ask why you don’t have one…everyone has one!
