Costco Travel Package Price Comparison
Everytime I run a price comparison for a Costco Travel package I am FLOORED at the cost savings. We have friends traveling to the Hilton Los Cabos which looks like a beautiful family friendly resort, so I ran the numbers on a travel package of flights, hotel and transfers on Costco Travel and compared the price with American Express Travel vacation packages.
Now I’m sure it’s not always this extreme, but wow, I sure was happy I checked on Costcotravel.com! Right now there are Costco Travel deals on the Hilton Los Cabos too!
We have been long time American Express Platinum card holders and have found value through the card (despite the hefty annual fee – I can explain that more if that’s of interest but I’ll stick to the point here) and often book our travel using it.
We also like the Hilton Los Cabos because it has one of the few beaches in Cabo San Lucas. As well it has a small waterslide and a kids club. On the Costco Travel Package deal, kids under 12 eat free…which we always appreciate because how many meals have my kids eaten 4 french fries…or wanted a third hamburger….however the dice roll…free kids meals are appreciated! This perk wasn’t offered on Amex Travel.
Travel Tips:
- Visit TripAdvisor to read more reviews and compare pricing.
- Book directly with Hilton if you care about getting Hilton points…because you don’t get program points toward your stay when you book with a third party.

So in exploring our upcoming summer vacation plans I ran pricing for the same vacation – as apples to apples as best I could using both Costco Travel and our old standby American Express Platinum Card and this is what that looked like:
Here is the Costco Travel Deal for the Hilton, which was $3900
AMEX Travel Package
Here is the American Express Travel Deal for the Hilton which was $6,415
I was floored. Really, truly, shocked. There was a $2300 price differential. Same dates. Same Hotel. Same Airline. Flight time. The Amex has a King bed, and Costco has two queens, but there isn’t really much price difference on that. And to boot…Costco’s deal included a $50 credit, free continental breakfast daily for 2, airport transfer by private car and kids under 12 eat free…which the AMEX deal did not.
So we’re booked on Costco Travel to the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort in Mexico for the Fourth of July…Stay tuned for the Hilton Cabo San Lucas Resort Review! We can’t wait! This will be our first trip on a Costco Travel Package!
