Ingredients

In my opinion, a banana cream pie is a pretty simple dessert and it really doesn’t need to have hydrogenated oils, corn syrup or palm oil. Banana cream pie is just a graham cracker crust, banana pudding/pie filling, and whipped cream – all of which can be made pretty simply with clean ingredients. I much appreciate that these are budget friendly, but personally I would be happy to pay a buck or two more and have it made without those ingredients.

My Thoughts

Costco uses cheap ingredients to make a lot of these bakery items as affordable as possible – I realize it saves money and that this is a fairly priced dessert for its size – and TRUST ME I buy these desserts sometimes too! [NO JUDGEMENT].

Personally, I have health conditions which limit my fat intake (especially junky fats) and I indulge in these Costco Bakery desserts sometimes, but I don’t purchase every single one. I tend to buy them when I’m feeding a crowd, bringing a pot luck item, etc. This time around, I did not purchase this.

I would prefer to make banana cream pie – plus it’s not baked which makes it a fun and easy pie to make with the kids!

If you bought it please leave your review in the comments!!

  1. This pie does NOT taste of banana at all. The crust sticks to the pie tin; there is NO cream filling -DISGUSTING!

    1. Thank you for sharing!! Appreciate all reviews – especially when they’re not favorable ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks again!!!

  2. Was really looking forward to this pie. Hoping it was as enjoyable as the seasonal pumpkin pies. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. ZERO banana flavoring. Like they completely forgot. I had feared a chemical banana taste but I can honestly say absolutely no banana flavor. I think the crust was tasty but is perhaps 30-50% too thick. Finally, both the “banana” and cream fillings are too sticky, reminiscent of the jarred marshmallow instead of a light whipped custard. I’ll stick to homemade using my favorite recipe from https://foodwishes.blogspot.com/2019/05/southern-style-baked-banana-pudding.html

    1. THank you so much for the honest review! I agree with sticking to homemade, I’ll have to try your recipe next time! Thanks again!
