Acai Roots Organic Açaí Sorbet at Costco

acai roots organic sorbet at costco

Costco’s frozen dessert section now includes the Acai Roots Organic Açaí Sorbet, an option for customers who miss the beloved Tattooed Chef Acai Bowls (we hope to see those back soon, but for now, we have this!). This product is also organic, and made from açaí berries that are wild-harvested in the Brazilian Amazon, focusing on quality and sustainability. This is basically the acai base – you can use this to make your own acai bowls (or any way you like of course 🙂

Money Saving Tip: Each half gallon bin of the Acai Roots Organic Acai Sorbet at Costco makes up to 15 acai bowls, that shakes out to less than $1 per serving when you use this to make-your-own acai bowls at home.

Review and Acai Bowl Suggestions

I know everything in Los Angeles is overpriced…but an acai bowl starts at about $7 here! For two kids it’s over $14 which is more than this entire bin of acai sorbet! Costco rotates a variety of acai options in the frozen aisle- there’s the Tattooed Chef bowls (definitely the member favorite), the packets and this sorbet – there’s usually at least one of them available so I now just buy whichever is there and we make them at home. Or change it up with dragon fruit.

Recommended Granola

I grab the Organic Pumpkin Granola when it’s on sale and stock up (I’ve never written a review on it and I need to – but it’s fantastic and goes great with the acai bowls) and just toss on whatever fruit we have on hand.

Fresh Fruit Recs

We prefer fresh fruit – it’s already a frozen base of acai sorbet – and we think room temperature fruit is a better pairing. Sliced bananas, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and pineapple work best for us.

Frozen Fruit Recs

For frozen fruit, we like frozen cherries, frozen pineapple or the frozen tropical mix.

Other Toppings

You can also add some chocolate chips, shredded coconut, peanut butter or chocolate sauce.
